Guilty plea agreement granted, judgment pronounced in Jozo Cigić case

Having held a guilty plea agreement hearing and a sentencing hearing in the case of Jozo Cigić, on 14 November 2023 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered and pronounced a Judgment, finding the accused Jozo Cigić guilty that, in the manner described in the operative part of the Judgment, he committed the criminal offense of Organized Crime under Article 250(3) CC BiH as read with the criminal offense of Aggravated Theft under Article 287(1)a) CC FBiH, in conjunction with Article 55 of the Code.

The Court sentenced the accused to one (1) year of imprisonment, and fined him with 60,000.00 BAM, which the accused shall pay within 6 (six) months of the day when the Judgment becomes final.

The accused Jozo Cigić is, inter alia, charged that, over a protracted period of time from 2011 to late 2017, in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he voluntarily became a member of a group for organized crime, which has been organized for the purpose of getting continual ill-gotten gain by way of previously planned and agreed appropriation of expensive passenger motor vehicles, by extorting money from their rightful owners for their return, disassembling the vehicles for spare parts, and then selling those parts with the intention to cover up the criminal offense, and smuggling and selling the stolen vehicles in the territory of Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro, in the manner that, on multiple occasions, during a period from 8 August 2012 to 10 December 2016, together with other members of the group, known to him, he participated in the appropriation of passenger motor vehicles in the territory of the City of Mostar, which were then transported to hidden locations known to them, after which other members of the group, known to them, transported the stolen vehicles to Serbia or disassembled them for spare parts.
